So as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, Gary and I are off to Prague for a few days this weekend.
It’s our first proper holiday together so we’re very excited!
We’ve both been to the city before so we’re not too worried about proper sightseeing. We’re going to check out a few of our favourite places (the castle is on Gary’s list, whilst I’ve got my eye on Prague Zoo!), but mainly I think we just want to swan around eating awesome food, drinking beer and spending some proper together.
Have any of you ever visited Prague before? Are there any restaurants, bars or just interesting places to visit that you’d like to recommend? We have a pretty open diary at the minute!
Packing for just 4 days can be a nightmare if you’re only taking hand-luggage (as we are).
Gary’s fine. He can take a pair of jeans, a pair of shorts, a couple of tshirts and a hoodie and he’s sorted. Joys of being a guy huh?
I’m a bit more complicated than that!
(Especially as Yahoo can’t seem to make it’s mind up on the weather forecast…)
With this in mind, I’ve put together a capsule wardrobe for the trip from items I actually already own. Hopefully this will see me through and I can mix and match a few items along the way.
OUTFIT FOR TRAVELLING
I like to be really comfy when I’m flying but I also hate looking like a scruff at the airport.
So, as a base, I’m taking my New Look skinny jeans. They’re gorgeously comfy, fit me like a dream and go with everything.
A bright t-shirt, a scarf and my new batwing cardigan will keep me nice and cosy in the air-conditioned plane, and I’m going to try and fit my lovely green Accessorize bag in my carry-on suitcase just before boarding (grr hand-luggage limits!)
Chelsea boots are wonderfully comfy and will be handy for running around the airport.
OUTFIT FOR SIGHTSEEING
I have two day outfits planned for now (weather dependent).
If it’s cold and rainy I’m going to go for my jeans, mint jumper, Chelsea boots and (possibly) my bowler hat. I need to check whether it will fit in my bag or not, but if it does I think it’ll add a little something to this (rather plain) outfit.
I don’t want to take my massive overcoat so I’m packing my tropical print bomber jacket, which will keep me warm enough as well as looking awesome.
If it’s looking warm, I’m gonna reach for the same jeans and jacket combo but with a bright t-shirt and my coral (fake) Vans style sneakers. Comfy shoes are my essential for running around sight-seeing!
I’m also taking a clutch bag. Perfect for just slipping in my purse, room key, lipstick and camera/iPhone.
OUTFIT FOR DINNER
I’m pretty certain Gary and I will be off out for a romantic dinner for two at some point so for that I’m taking this versatile black smock dress.
I have two of these dresses, one in black and one a gorgeous teal-blue-green shade, and they’re SO comfortable. Sometimes I add a skinny waist-belt if I want a bit more shape definition, but usually I wear them loose and flowing: perfect for when I’ve eaten too much good food!
I’d wear this with black tights, my trusty Chelsea boots and a statement necklace for evening, (ramping up my makeup as well of course!) but I could also throw it on with my coral sneakers if the weather perks up during the day.
So there you have it.
I’m probably gonna have to do some fine-tuning to this as unfortunately I don’t think it’ll all fit in my carry-on case.
But hey, at least I’ve started preparing!
Previously I’ve been known to throw a mountain of clothes straight from the floor into my suitcase, whilst running half an hour late, wearing last night’s makeup and nursing a raging hangover… so this is a definite improvement!
