MAKEUP REVOLUTION’S 144 ULTIMATE EYESHADOW PALETTE

LOOK WHAT I BOUGHT.

I popped into Superdrug last week, and there it was. Marked £10 in the Christmas Gift section. The Makeup Revolution 144 Ultimate Eyeshadow Collection Palette.

144 shades of pure eyeshadow heaven. ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-FOUR.

Best purchase ever? Quite possible.

Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL? I’m utterly in love with it.

I’ve used quite a few of the colours already, but I reeeeally wanted to test every single one to see what it would look like out of the pan. So, on Sunday morning, I settled myself down in my bedroom with my camera, a huge cup of tea, the Christmas radio (yep, cracking that one out already!) and a giant pack of cleansing wipes.

And I swatched.

I swatched every. single. one. of these eyeshadows on my (pretty hair hairy) forearm. You’re welcome.

Makeup Revolution are a relatively new company but they’ve been making some serious waves in the beauty industry, and this palette is a perfect example of why.

As you can see, there’s an incredible mix of textures: from matte to glitter and every level of shimmer in between. You’ll also find every shade of every colour you could possibly want, and all of them are perfectly pigmented.

The golds and bronzes are especially luscious, but I’ve discovered a new love for purple shadows, as well as the teal/green ones!

The shadows are super easy to apply, though some are admittedly more chalky than others.

They’re really long-lasting and, as I mentioned, they’re surprisingly pigmented considering the crazy cheap price of it. If there’s one thing Makeup Revolution are doing right, it’s value for money!

You get two double-edged sponge applicators with the palette, which are handy for applying when you’re in a hurry. I tend to swipe my colours on with those and then blend with a blending brush, but a normal eyeshadow brush would work just as well.

HAHAHAHA! You, my lady, are mad. I love how there is even a palette with this many colours on it! Nice one, Sophie, for challenging Katy! ;) I can’t wait to see what looks you come with it! Maybe a firework inspired look? xxx

    • Ajnira Muminovic

      yep, congrats to u XD

    • *curtsey*

PS YES Fireworks! Genius lady <3

  • I WANT ONE!! I have been after a palette for a good while now and this one looks super cool and doesn’t break the bank! Can’t wait for the Face of the Day! :D xxx

    • Go look for it babe! It’s really really brilliant :) would have been perfect for shows as well haha xx

  • Oh my word, row 12 is absolutely everything!

  • Accidental finds are sometimes the best, you approach them with no expectations and get pleasantly surprised sometimes!

    • I know right! I’ve definitely found some of my favourite products when I wasn’t expecting to :) xx

  • Wow, I’m really impressed that you actually swatched all of them! Good job!
One part of me is like “WANT” while the other, reasonable part says that I wouldn’t use half of them, which is very true….
Looking forward to seeing how you’ll use them all! :)

    xx Mimmi, Muted Mornings

    • Haha I was DETERMINED to! And actually, I’m so glad I did. Some of the colours in the pan are totally different when you actually apply them, and it was a fab way to see how each shade really works :) xx

  • Wow you absolute nutter trying them all! ;) Grooming regulations?! Gees! Funnily enough I popped into Superdrug today because I wanted to get the peel off base coat. Turns out my branch doesn’t stock MR except for a few Christmas gifts and this was one of them. I was thinking maybe they are not as pigmented as their normal palettes but then they have so many palettes that all these colours probably come from one of those anyway!

Really like the burgundy on row 5, though it would probably look as if someone had punched me!

    Amy at Amy & More

    • I LOVE the burgundy on row 5!! One of my absolute faves I reckon, along with the gold two shades over from it :)

Yeah, I had a little look through their smaller palettes and they’re all very similar. However, at £8 for 12 shadows, I think I got the better deal! :D xxx

  • Victoria Nightingale

Haha well done to you for doing swatches of all of them, that’s real dedication! It definitely is great value for £10!

    vvnightingale.blogspot.co.uk

  • £10 how is this possible?! I want one! SO pretty! xx

  • Wow grooming regulations? Science is so scruffy, I wear make up on non-lab days and I feel super smart. Lol.
I love this palette, I’m not sure I’d ever wear the neon ones, but the nudes look gorgeous :)

    • Yeah. Joys of being a receptionist! It’s very similar to air-hostess grooming. We’re only allowed to have our hair in specific hairstyles and HAVE to wear certain makeup items daily. I don’t mind too much, it’s actually got me trying out new things so can’t complain! :) xxx

  • Eilidh

wow so many nice shades! I love the brand too, I recently just posted a review about the iconic 2 palette:) cant wait to see the looks you create, especially with the bright colours!

    Eilidh from Velvet-Winter

    • Oooh I’ll pop over and have a read of that :) yeah, I’m a big fan! I like their highlighters too. Will probably do a review on them soon! xxx

  • Heather

I really love the neutrals in this palette and I’m very excited to see how you use the bright colours!

    Heather x

    • The neutrals are gorgeous. There’s literally every shade you could possibly ever need in life! xx

  • Jenn

I have this and I’m yet to have a play with all of the colours! It’s definitely going to keep me going for a while!

I look forward to seeing your face of the day(s)!

    • Thanks Jen! It’s fab isn’t it? Let me know if there’s any looks you’d particularly like to see me try out :)

I’d love to see what you do with yours!! xxx

  • Wow thank you for swatching all of these, I’ve not seen another blogger bother! I’m not sure I’d use all the shades but I guess that’s always the case when there’s so many shades to choose from! Xx

Jasmine // Magpie Jasmine // Blog Sale

    • That’s exactly what I thought Jasmine! :) I’m glad you liked it!

I definitely don’t think I’d use all the shades unless I was making myself do it for blogging reasons. You tend to pick a few favourites and stick with those don’t you? Kind of like buying a cookbook and then always making the same recipes from it haha! xxx

  • So. Many. Colors. Look at the variety. I love the last 3 swatches because they’re all so bright. Whoaaaa. :] // itsCarmen.com ☼ ☯

    • The colours are insane, and I can’t wait to get stuck in trying them all out!! xxx

  • Annabel

How you swatched this is beyond me, 12 is my limit it seems haha. That aside, this just looks stupidly good, and perfect for starting off with eye shadows!

    Annabel ♥
    Mascara & Maltesers

    • Cos I literally had nothing else to do with my life haha ;) xxx

  • sarah clarke

Oh my, I have massive palette envy! I’m so impressed that you managed to swatch them all. I don’t think you’d need another palette, but of course, that would be silly, you always need more ;)

    Sarah / Sarah Smiles

    • Do you know what, I’m still lusting after the Charlotte Tilbury, but mainly cos it’s just so pretty. Realistically, I don’t think I’m ever going to need another palette! xx

  • Daisy Churchward

I’ve heard good things about this brand, really could never see myself wearing brightly coloured eyeshadow though! Good look with creating new and exciting looks!

    daisychurchward.co.uk

    • Thanks Daisy! I’m finding the experimenting really fun actually. There are certain colours that I’m pretty sure I’d never wear again, but at least I’ve made myself TRY them first! :) xxx

PS Makeup Revolution are really doing good things in the beauty world! Their highlighters are also a favourite of mine :) xx

  • I feel similarly to Daisy. I’m a bit intimidated by super bright eye shadow colours on myself. They make me look clownish (well, that could be because I am rubbish at make up, not necessarily the colour’s fault.)x

    • Pahaha! I think it depends on the shades of bright colours to be honest, and how you mix them :)

MJ’s above suggestion of mixing neon pink with burgundy and a soft gold was spot on cos it means I’ve neutralised the super-brightness of the pink and it’s SO much more wearable than I thought it would be!! xxx

  • I can’t wait for your face of the day posts! This is such a huge palette. it really has some pretty colors but I don’t know if I would buy it…

    xx
    Ana Leote

    • Thanks Ana :) I can’t wait to share them with you!!

I think if the price hadn’t been so amazing, I probably wouldn’t have got it either. But at £10, I just figured: why not! :) xx

  • Corinne C

I can’t believe you swatched every single on! That’s some dedication for ya!

I’d love this palette, although I always get distressed as I find myself using the same colours and then they hit pan and I’m left with colours I never use :(

    Corinne x

    • Heehee :) cheers Corinne! And thank you for the Twitter shoutout!! :) xxx

  • Oh wow, mega palette! Love the shimmery shades, the neons might be a bit much for me though!

    cat // je suis cat

    MAC GIVEAWAY!

    • I’ve tried one of them on the eye this morning, it’s actually quite interesting! Because it’s not a crayon or anything, it’s actually quite a softened neon. I’m wearing the neon pink with soft gold and burgundy this morning and it looks much more subtle than you’d expect! :) xxx

  • ninegrandstudent

Having to wear eye-shadow for work?! That’s extreme…I thought having to wear a foundation at work was bad enough (especially on the 9am Saturday shift at 18…) X

    http://ninegrandstudent.co.uk

    • Foundation, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick and either blusher or bronzer… They’re pretty strict about it for some buildings I think! Luckily my clients are a bit more relaxed so it’s not too bad :) xxx

  • So many colours to choose from. I tend to stick to neutrals ;)

    http://www.bisousnatasha.com

    • So do I! That’s why it’s actually quite good for me I think. It’s pushing me outside my comfort zone :) xxx

  • Gah! So beautiful! Ok ok, here is my colour combo challenge… neon pink, soft gold and burgundy. Go! <3

    • I saw this just before I did my makeup this morning haha. Looks so good!!! I love how the colours work together :) definitely going on my list to be photographed this weekend. Cheers lovely! xxx

  • Haha, Katy I love this post! What value for money. I can’t wait to see you rock the neons, I used to wear neon eyeshadow ALL THE TIME when I was 18 (all those moons ago). My job as grooming regulations too but I haven’t worn eyeshadow for years so I’m a proper rebel! ;)

  • Angelica P

The colours of this palette are pretty good – I think getting 50 shadows you’d feel comfortable wearing with 50 for “fun” days is still a great deal! And thanks for swatching all the shades, it really helps when it comes to working out what to buy xx
