I promised you cake.
Behold, CAKE!
I’ve seen so many bloggers trying out the BakerDays letterbox cakes* and thought it sounded like such a brilliant concept.
Small cakes that you can customise to look exactly how you want, and that are small enough to be sent through the letter box? Genius, I tell you. GENIUS.
I’d actually planned on sending one each to my brother and sister for their 21st birthday last month, but then they went back to Spain and that plan fell through (though I then discovered they actually do international deliveries as well!)
So I was super excited when BakerDays contacted me on Twitter asking if I’d like to try one of their cakes. Mainly cos, this time, I could have it ALL FOR MYSELF.
I asked them to please include my blog header/logo and then gave them free reign on the rest of the design.
Two days later I opened the front door to find a small box scattered upside down on the floor. Off came the bag, out came the scissors and within minutes I was exploring the contents…
You guyyys. They sent me balloons! And candles! And cards! And a little party-blower-whistle-thingy!
And cake! (Obviously.)
Which comes in it’s own adorable little teeny-weeny tin, about the size of my hand!
And look! It’s my FACE. My face is on a CAKE.
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll already have noticed I was pretty darn excited about that.
I’ve had plenty of cakes in my time (Miss Mother is a baking master), but never one with my actual small FACE on it.
And I have to say it’s darn fine cake.
BakerDays do 6 different flavour choices (including one gluten-free and one dairy-free option!) and mine was a plain vanilla sponge topped with a thin layer of yummy soft fondant icing (and my FACE).
I was a bit worried it would be dry or have crashed or crumbled in the post, but as you can see, it was perfectly whole and moist (eegh) and crumby. Just like a good cake should be!
Then I remembered I had Great British Bake Off to catch up on.

Good job, BakerDays. Good job.
Overall I was pretty-a-lot impressed with BakerDays.
The service was fast and efficient. I didn’t order through the website but I had a little look and it seems easy enough to navigate.
Prices start at £14.99 for a plain sponge letterbox cake (which serves between 2 and 4 people) and I think that’s a really good deal.
It’s definitely something I’m gonna send to my friends in future instead of a plain card and a promise to “buy you a drink when I next see you”.
They do everything from birthday cakes to anniversary cakes and even cupcakes! All products are dispatched fresh and they guarantee 14 days of freshness, which I think is a pretty impressive show.
Of course I wouldn’t actually be able to confirm this because LOL as if my cake was still gonna be around after 2 days, let alone 14…

I’m having a quiet chilled out day today. G’s on his playstation, I’m blogging. Life is quiet and that’s the way I’m liking it.
Until I go get drunk tonight for my friend’s birthday obvs. Then it won’t be quiet at all.
