Happy Monday folks!
How is everyone on this fine/freezing morning?
I’m (predictably) cold. But apart from that, it’s been a pretty great week for me.
I’m really enjoying doing these posts as it gets me thinking over all the good things that have happened since last Monday, and means I don’t end up harping on about the negatives.
At least not TOO much… (Warning: harp-on coming straight ahead!)
Friday night was a bit of a low moment for me. Four days out of five last week the District line was down because of signal failures, which means my already hour-long commute turned into a nightmare-ish two and a bit hours requiring several buses and the last of my patience.
Add to that that I’m up every morning at 5:45am to get ready for work, and by Friday I was so tired I quite literally burst into tears as soon as my housemate opened the front door for me.
Not good.
But hey ho! An early night, a good lie-in and eggs on toast on Saturday (kind of) made everything better and I’m feeling a lot more positive this week.
So let’s get our Monday off to a good start shall we? :)
1. My first mulled wine of the season! Which funnily enough actually turned out to be the best mulled wine I’ve ever had. Perfectly spiced, just the right amount of sweetness… Boom.
2. Gary and some of his friends did the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest race on Saturday. I was so so proud of him for finishing it, especially as he had a vicious hangover!
3. And speaking of proud: watching my “baby” sister’s graduation! Unfortunately I had to work so couldn’t be there in person, but the uni very awesomely set up a livestream (woohoo technology) so I did get to see her collect her (first-class!) degree anyway. I’m so INCREDIBLY proud of her!!
4. The pork belly bites from Señor Ceviche on Wednesday. I know I blogged about them on Thursday but holy food gods those things definitely deserve a second mention.
5. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (Part 1) – Gary and I went to watch it yesterday and ohmygosh it was AMAZING. J-Law was absolutely fantastic and I thought it was really really well done. Hunger Games is definitely one of the top book-to-film series ever!
PS I’m sooo glad they decided to split the last book in two! I feel like two well-made 2h films is SO much better than trying to cram everything into 3h and making a mess of it all. Don’t you?
6. I tried out Rosie’s “eggs in bread rolls” recipe for brunch yesterday morning, with slight alterations: ham instead of mushrooms and mozzarella instead of gruyere. Felt very proud of myself and they were DELICIOUS. If I do say so myself.
7. Meeting my lovely ladies for afternoon cocktails on Saturday. There’s nothing quite like a Passion fruit martini at 3 o’clock in the afternoon to make a girl feel classy!
8. Buying the first Christmas present. Look at me all organised ‘n stuff! Usually I end up buying everything two days before I fly home…
9. Having a cuddle with a ginormous Golden-Doodle dog on Saturday night. Like a golden retriever who’s had a perm. So adorable.
10. This brilliant notice on my hot wrap from Pret. Made me laugh for about 10 minutes straight. Thank you Captain Obvious!
What are your happy moments from the past week?
I’ve noticed that a large chunk of mine tend to revolve around food. I just really like food.
I’ve got no proper plans for this week. The week before payday is always a quiet one!
Vicky and I are going for dinner on Friday which should be exciiiiiting. And Gary and I are going to head back to the cinema to catch The Imitation Game at some point. I have so much love for Benedict C. at the moment. The man is pure class…
I’m also going to attempt to get some more Christmas shopping-planning done, so that when I do get paid, I can just zoom straight in and pick everything up in double-quick time.
Doesn’t that sound all responsible and organised of me?
I know. I’m shocked too.
Have a lovely Monday guys! :)
