Summer!
That beautiful time of year where the weather’s warm, the skirts are short and the Pimms is nice and chilled…
So why is it raining? Why am I wearing jeans and a jumper? And why am I chugging tea and hot chocolate like it’s water?
Go home July. You’re drunk.
In honor of this horrendous weather, I thought I’d break up the restaurant reviews and outfit posts a bit today, and attempt to get myself back into the lifestyle blogger groove.
Apart from Happy Mondays, I feel like I’ve abandoned my lifestyle roots a lil bit, so from now on: I’m aiming to get at least one fun Life post in a week.
They’ll probs just be silly little things like this one or like my Hangover Thoughts post, but I think I need a break from doing so many reviews!
Today I thought I’d ease in slowly and introduce you guys to some of the things I’m currently addicted to.
Things that would more than likely make me cry if you took them away from me…
1. INSTAGRAM
You guys. I think I have a problem.
A serious I’M SO ADDICTED TO INSTAGRAM problem.
I spend about 60% of my day thinking about it. The other 40% is taken up by taking photos, editing photos and eating food (obviously.)
I’ve found an editing style that works for me and I’m being much pickier about what I post, so finally, fiiiinally my feed is looking good and I’m feeling proud of it.
Which seems like a ridiculous thing to be proud of, and I’m almost a bit embarrassed to admit it, but there ya go…
2. POND’S COLD CREAM.
You’re all probably sick of hearing about this stuff, but I’m honestly still so in love with it.
I was sent a sample to try last year and have yet to find a make up remover/cleanser that works as well as this does. I’ve dabbled in a couple of other brands and products, but I ALWAYS come back to this one.
You can read about it in more detail in my full review, but basically: it’s an oil/cream cleanser that just MELTS the makeup off your face.
It’s perfect for sensitive skin like mine, and I can rub it into my eyes and it won’t sting. AND it gets all my waterproof mascara off as well.
Winner.
I had a heart-stopping moment last week where I went to 3 different Boots stores and every single one was out of stock for it. Cue me hyper-ventilating on Oxford Street about how I was going to clean my face for the next few days.
Luckily I managed to order it online so that was all OK in the end.
(And I may or may not have stockpiled about 5 tubs of the stuff just in case that ever happens again…)
3. MY BULLET JOURNAL
Again, something else I’ve been mentioning a lot recently.
I first read about bullet journals on Miss Pond’s blog.
I did a bit of research and learned that it’s basically a way of organising all your lists in one place, including your daily, monthly and yearly To Do’s.
Now, I’m a MASSIVE list-maker. But I do tend to write them on random bits of paper and then never find them again. So this system is PERFECT for me.
I’ve been practising in my blog-branded notebook from Getting Personal and have slowly been making it an essential part of my life. It’s actually the only way I stay productive and organised!
I’ve now been given a fancy turquoise Moleskine notepad and I’m in the middle of setting it all up so it’s ready to go on Monday.
As soon as it’s all pretty and organised, I’ll give you guys a journal tour.
But yeah, for now: BULLET JOURNALS. Best thing ever!
4. CANON SX710 HS
I love my DSLR. I really do.
It’s a Canon 1100D and I bought a 50mm 1.8f lens for it. It takes beautiful pictures with sexy bokeh backgrounds and really sharp details and is all kinds of happiness for my inner photography geek.
But know what I don’t love? How bloody big and heavy it is.
So I’ve been on the lookout for a new digi cam for a while now.
I wanted one that was small enough to slip in my handbag easily, but snazzy enough to take good blog photos (preferably with the above-mentioned sexy bokeh background) and have HD video. That was my criteria.
So when John Lewis got in touch and offered to send me one as part of their #FindYourSummer campaign, I was massively excited to get my hands on this funky little Canon SX710 HS.
I’ve been testing it out in different settings and I have to say I’m IMPRESSED. All my Scarlets Brunch and Quirky London post photos were taken on the SX710,and despite a few teething hiccups with sorting out the correct setting, I’m now a total convert!
It’s got manual settings similar to a DSLR, fab HD video with autofocus and great sound quality (HELLO VLOGS COMING BACK SOON) and it’s even got actual wifi!
My absolute favourite part is the zoom though: check it out. I took these two photos standing in exactly the same spot. All I did was hit the zoom in button. Impressive no?
It’s the perfect inbetween to a DSLR and a traditional point and shoot and I don’t know how I ever managed without it.
In fact, I never leave the house without it anymore!
Amazing right? I know.
It’s no wonder I’m totally in love with it.
What have you guys all been crushing on lately?
And I’m after some new Instagram accounts to follow, so leave me your links below so I can check them out! :D
