Happy Monday!
How are you on this fine, grey July afternoon?
I’m feeling all happy and skippy and jiggly-dancey because I’m playing my (updated) Happy Monday playlist and remembering the ace lunch I had from Ma’ Pluckers and thinking about the wine I’m going to have with Jasmin tonight and, most of all, the fact that I’M MOVING IN 6 DAYS, YOU GUYS!!!
Packing is 100% happening.
I’ve thrown away (ie: donated to charity) a serious amount of clothes and books and junk. I’ve gone through and shredded a bundle of old papers, decided which shoes are making the move and have slowly started to put things in bags and boxes.
I’m also currently sleeping on the sofa of our lounge, because my room is so ridiculously tiny that there is not enough floor space for all my packed up things, so it’s all on my bed.
And I’m on the sofa.
So that’s fun. I’m enjoying that…
Yup. No sarcasm. Noooo sarcasm at all. None.
T minus 6 days.
1. Croissant, fresh flowers and good coffee. The perfect chilled-out start to a miserable, rainy Wednesday.
2. Sarah Millican. I watched her on TV the other night and I was crying actual tears of laughter. I feel like she is my spirit animal. And I’m currently eyeing up the tickets to her show in London next year. (FYI, my birthday’s in October. Just putting that information out there. Y’know. Casually.)
3. Peanut butter cheese-burger. FOR REAL THOUGH. Peanut butter. On a cheese burger. AND IT WAS AMAZING. Haché has been on my list of places to try for a while and it didn’t disappoint!
4. New flatmate bonding time. Gary and I went over to my about-to-be new flat over the weekend to hang out with my about-to-be new flatmates and some mutual friends of ours. There was a lot of laughing, a lot of gin and a lot of getting to know each other. I CAN’T WAIT.
5. Bubble tea. My BFF and I got invited down to Topshop’s Oxford Circus branch of Bubbleology to learn a bit more about it and give them a go. We ordered one made with Taro, which is basically a purple sweet potato that tastes like biscuits. Seriously. And they make a sort of milkshake out of it and then they add tapioca “bubbles” to the bottom of it and you slurp it all up with a giant straw. It’s as weird as it sounds, but it’s also surprisingly really yummy!
6. This song. It’s the song from ASDA’s newest advert and I bought it on Thursday night and haven’t stopped listening to it since. It makes me jiggle in my chair.
7. Kokoa Collection’s Hot Chocolate. THIS STUFF IS SO GOOD. They’re like giant chocolate buttons that you melt in a tiny bit of boiling water and then add hot milk slowly and it makes the creamiest, most chocolatey hot chocolate I’ve ever found outside of Spain. I may or may not have used up three-quarters of my sample pack in the space of one week. Because grey weather = hot chocolate weather. Right?
8. Feeling proud. Last week, Gary passed a really important exam that he needed for his job and I’m so so proud of him! I know how hard he worked for it and it made me happy to see him so happy about it :)
9. Quiet early morning trains. There were like, 3 people in my tube carriage to work on Friday morning. It was DELIGHTFUL.
10. I WENT TO HOGWARTS. Except I didn’t. (Except I kind of did). Parts of the 3rd, 4th and final Harry Potter films were filmed at St Paul’s Cathedral. And we may or may not have got sneaky VIP access to skip down it and pretend to be at Hogwarts. (OK, FINE. I skipped. Everyone else just walked like normal people…)
GUYS, I’M LEGIT AT HOGWARTS!!!!!! 🙆🏼💫🎓 #StPaulsTea #WhatKatyDid
