Happy Friday!
Fridays seem to be turning into my fashion post days don’t they?
Last week Jasmin and I each shared our 3 Ways to Wear Grey Skinny Jeans, and today, we’re back with another style challenge!
This time, George at ASDA asked us to style a SKIRT 3 ways.
We chose this fab black and blue (or is it white and gold?) jacquard bodycon skirt*, which is both super comfy and super good value at just £8.
I always worry with bodycon skirts that they’re going to be really thin and show off every lump and bump, but despite being elasticated and stretchy, this one’s actually still thick enough to hide all signs of VPL.
Winner!
1. CASUAL WEEKEND OUTFIT FOR GRABBING A COFFEE
The casual outfits I put together for these posts seem to always be the ones I wear the most!
I love pairing a tight skirt with an oversized top and casual flats.
Loose t-shirts and lace-up (fake) Vans are my usual choice, but I actually really love this combination of a grey sweatshirt* (from the men’s section!) paired with white canvas pumps*.
It offsets the fancy jacquard print of the skirt really nicely and gives it a nice sporty edge which I love.
Perfect for throwing on at the weekend to grab coffee and sit outside reading the papers!
2. BRIGHT BUT PROFESSIONAL OUTFIT FOR A JOB INTERVIEW
I love this white shirt* such a lot.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to find shirts with Peter Pan collars? Blouses, sure. But the shirts are GOLD DUST.
This one is a bargainous £6 as well, which makes it even sweeter!
I added a bright pink sweater* for a bit of colour fun and topped it off with my fave oversized satchel* and shiny loafers*.
I think it looks fun but still professional and smart.
Definitely something I’d wear for an interview, but it would also look great for a special Sunday lunch with parents or something.
What do you think?
3. DINNER AND DRINKS IN TOWN WITH MY BEST FRIENDS
Pink seems to be my theme for this series…
I just think it looks so nice against the deep blue and black!
The top is actually just a basic strappy cami*, but it’s perfect for tucking into the skirt as the thin fabric doesn’t do that awful bunch-under-the-skirt thing.
I added my lovely blue duster coat* over the top. It actually looks more purple here which is odd, but I really love the unstructured shape over the tight skirt. It’s just the right length as well which is a bonus!
I think this would be perfect for a nice after-work dinner and drinks date with my best friends.
Smart enough for a restaurant, but still comfy and easy to wear (which is my priority in life!)
And there you have it!
I actually really struggled more with this challenge. Much more than I did with the jeans.
I tend to wear either jeans or a dress mostly these days, and skirts don’t make as much of an appearance in my wardrobe.
Because of that I (not surprisingly) find them sooo much harder to style.
It’s been fun though, and it’s definitely rekindled my love for the first outfit: bodycon skirt, loose top and sneakers. I’ll be keeping that more in mind over the Summer!
So that’s my favourite outfit pick: the casual one.
Which one did you like best?
Are you a skirt person? Or do you struggle with them like I do?
I’d love to know your thoughts! :)
(And if anyone has any good outfit ideas featuring this skirt, hit me with them in the comments below. I need some more inspiration!)
Make sure you head over to Jasmin’s blog and check out how she styled the skirt!
She’s also got some fun fashion blogging tips going on which are definitely worth a read :D

As always, if I didn’t love it, I wouldn’t blog it! :)
