Happy Monday!
So I’m going to jump right in and say that it’s been a really rough week for me. Like, go home and cry at the end of every day kind of rough.
Partly holiday blues, partly quarter life crisis and partly my anxiety flaring up. And partly guilt for being such a Debbie Downer recently.
I know, I KNOW, we all got down and have bad days.
But when I spend such a big part of my life promoting a positive brand image, it can feel really shitty to know that I’ve spent pretty much the last 3 months whining to you guys, and not actually giving you any proper content of value.
And again, I know, I KNOW, blog for yourself blah blah blah. But I like blogging for you guys. Let’s be honest, if I wanted to “blog for myself” I’d be writing a diary. But I’m not. I’m putting it on the internet. So obviously I’d like my words to be read. And obviously, I’d quite like to write words that are going to be of some use to you.
And me whining about how tired how I am and how I don’t know what to blog about? Probably not so useful. Definitely not so fun.
Ha, sorry. I just realised I have no idea where I was going with this. And I’ve managed to make it all doom and gloom again.
I’M SORRY.
ANYWAY. Apart from all the bad times, there have also been a surprisingly big amount of good times this week. Little things that have made me smile, people who have made me belly laugh, songs that given me the feels, and food that has been so very, very delicious.
1. Lady tribe. There’s nothing quite like a gang of fabulous, smart and kick-ass women to make you feel like you can turn your life around. My favourite WhatsApp and Internet ladies were there for me with wise words, sage advice and a good joke when I had a meltdown over my life earlier this week, and I felt the warm snuggly feels right down to my toes. Knowing you have this fantastic tribe of people at your back, no matter how down life gets… well that’s pretty special.
2. Boaty McBoatface. BEST BOAT NAME EVER.
3. Drunk cooking. I got home slightly drunk at midnight on Saturday and proceeded to cook a proper pasta sauce from scratch. Onions, garlics, herbs, the WHOLE SHEBANG. I have no idea why, but I’m glad I did. Because it was freaking delicious.
4. Snapchat. I seem to rotate through different favourite social medias every week, and this week it’s Snapchat I’m obsessed with! (misskatyenglish – in case you were wondering…)
5. Adobe Lightroom. LIFE. CHANGING. I’ve fiiiinally found a photo editing programme on Mac that doesn’t make me want to scratch my eyeballs out and my photos are once again making me happy. Stay tuned!
6. Letter from my sister. My “little” sister sent me a hand-written letter from Nicaragua and it arrived this week and I promptly burst into tears. I’m so proud of her for kicking entrepeneur ass in Central America, but I also can’t wait for her to come home so I can cuddle her again.
7. Victoria sponge cake. Yesterday I went to a tea party with all the Captains of Poppy Loves Book Club. We had open-top sandwiches, prosecco and the MOST DELICIOUS OF ALL CAKES EVER. It was also fab to finally meet Poppy in person and chatter away with all the other book club captains of course. But mainly: THAT CAKE.
8. 10 Things I Hate About You. Seeing Heath Ledger’s adorably dimpled smile never fails to make me happy. Never.
9. Quarter Life Crisis cabaret. On Saturday I hit up the St James’ theatre to watch my buddy Katie Brennan smash out her fantastic musical extravaganza for the 3rd time. I laughed, I cried and I came out punching the air and feeling inspired to make a change in my life. Katie was as fabulous as ever, and I am so unbelievably proud of her ♥
10. Coming home from work and finding that Gary made the bed and arranged all the cushions and left the remote on my side before he left for Nottingham. It’s the small things eh?
So I’ve just realised I haven’t posted on Instagram for 5 days. Not quite sure what happened there. INSPIRATION Y U DISAPPEAR?
So instead of my usual lot of Instagram shots that fit in with what I’m actually talking about, you have a picture of some pretty flowers and my bed. You’re welcome.
HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEK. BE CUTE TO YOURSELF.
HAPPY MONDAY!
