Happy Monday!
So, once again, I have been slacking off on the blog front. This time, though, I had a pretty legit excuse in that I’ve been off on TWO travel trips in the space of 14 days.
I know. Just call me Hardcore Harriet.
My best buddy Vicky and I ran away to Copenhagen for 36 hours on the last weekend of February (literally the day before payday – not sure why we thought that was a good plan! #broke).
I’m writing up a post about our trip now, but as a quick preview: Copenhagen is clean and friendly and cool and AWESOME. And they make the best lattes. And it’s cold.
Then I had a SUPER busy week at work to get things all in order before Gary and I jetted of to Rome for a week!
Again, I have several posts coming on that trip soon, so I won’t go into too much detail, but it was fantastic. I love Rome. I adore the pasta, the sightseeing, the hidden streets, the tiny wine bars and the friendly locals. I heart the sunsets, the rain, the giants slabs of pizza and the fruity gelato. It. Is. Amazing.
We got back late on Friday night so I’ve had two days to acclimatise myself to London again, and so far all I want to do is jump back on a plane.
The travel bug struggle is real my friends!
I’ve also been having a massive think over the direction of this blog. Y’see, I’m not entirely sure where I am with it at the moment. You may (or may not) have noticed, but I’ve really been struggling to feel inspired about it.
A lot of the stuff I used to write about no longer seems relevant to my life, and I just don’t know what direction I’m going in. I don’t feel as connected to the community anymore, as I barely have time to read blogs anymore. And overall I’m just feeling a bit bleh about everything to be honest… Which is no fun at all!
I’m determined not to quit yet, and I’m still working on finding my path, but for now, the one thing I AM sure about is that Happy Mondays are here to stay. They make me happy, they seem to make you happy, and I know they’re the one thing I won’t be changing around here.
So to celebrate, I’m co-hosting Jasmin’s Happy Things linkup this week!
She started this a few weeks ago and I think it’s such a great idea. If you blog about happy things, then make sure to:
- Add your link to the link up widget below
- Have a read of others posts and share the love!
- Find some new bloggers to enjoy
The next happiness link up will be on the 21st of March, and you can follow along on Jasmin’s blog!
1. The Trevi fountain! SO CLEAN. SO BIG. SO AMAZING. Visiting the fountain was the first thing we did after dropping our bags off in Rome. It was a 2 minute walk from our hotel and we got there at the golden hour, as the sun was going down, and it was Monday so it was quiet, and it was just PERFECT.
2. Blue suede shoes. Ted and Muffy sent me this GORGEOUS pair of blue, wolf-embroidered, suede slipper shoes and I’m in love. They’re so much comfier than I was expecting them to be and so so so so purrrrdy.
3. Wine in Rome. So much wine. Our favourite time of day on the trip was around 4-5pm, when we’d head down the little side streets of the city in search of tiny wine bars serving local reds and boards of perfectly cured meats and cheeses.
4. Milkmaid braids. My hair is long enough to braid again! HURRAH!
5. Vlogging! I’m back on the vlog wagon and I’m really enjoying it. iMovie is a joy to edit with and I’m a happy little video bunny at the moment! (psst… follow me here)

6. Westie dogs! I heart Westies. And between brunch with Sylvie the puppy (watch the video above!) and the most adorable arthritic and deaf Westie wandering around one of the piazzas in Rome, I’m a happy girl.
7. Perfect coffee in Copenhagen. We had the best latte of our LIVES at Mad & Kaffe, sat outside in minus two degree weather, waiting for a table to be free for brunch. Honestly, their coffee is stupendous.
8. My new hat. I bought a navy blue fedora in Rome and I love it so much that I’d wear it to bed if I could.
9. Dinner with the blog girls. Our lovely Charlie is off on the trip of a lifetime around East Asia, Australia and New Zealand and I’m SO excited for her. We had a yummy group dinner at Dirty Bones to wish her bon voyage and it was lovely to catch up with the ladies!
10. Sunset over the city. Would you believe that we had the entire roof terrace bar of the Sofitel hotel to ourselves? We drank prosecco and wine, snacked on crisps and watched the sun go down over the Eternal City… bliss.
Thank you again for sticking with me guys. I know I’ve probably not been as fun to hang out with in the internet world these last few months, but I read every single comment I get, and they honestly make my day better.
So yeah. Sorry for being such a pants internet friend, and thank you for sticking around and putting up with my whinging.
Make sure you pop your happy link in the Linkup below. I’m going to make SURE I go through and read each and every one of them. And don’t forget that you can also tag your Instagram pics today with #LittleHappyMonday!
I love you all.
