Feliz Lunes!
Hurrah I’m home!
So, funny story:
I treated myself to a taxi to the airport yesterday (to avoid all the horrific craziness of Sunday trains), and it was SO worth the extra spend.
I got to the airport super relaxed and early and feeling very in control and grown-up, fairly confident that I’d packed everything I needed in my big ol’ suitcase…
And then the check-in lady informed me that, actually, I hadn’t booked a suitcase.
Oh.
Well I couldn’t exactly abandon my big ol’ suitcase, with all my Christmas presents and millions of coats* (*three). So I paid the ₤30 charge, which was a bit of a pain, but not as bad as I was expecting.
And then she mentioned my return date: you’re flying back on the 27th right?
And I said: no, I’m flying back on the 28th.
And she was like: errr well you’re booked for the 27th…
Oh.
I think she was slightly worried for my sanity/ability to travel alone.
To be honest, so am I.
Maybe I’m not quiiiiite so in control and grown-up as I thought…
1. Flying down through the clouds yesterday and spotting the clear blue skies, sunshine and beaches of my favourite island. It’s that absolute, complete happiness of knowing I’m nearly home!
2. Meeting up with an old uni friend at Winter Wonderland and getting to know his new girlfriend. It was fab to catch up after two years and it made me happy to see him so happy :)
3. Saturday evening’s blazing sunset. I was on a bus home from Gary’s house and we were driving straight into it, so I got to watch the whole thing. It was BEAUTIFUL.
4. Watching one of my best friends absolutely kill it in her show! I don’t see my girls often enough!♥ if anyone wants to check it out, their last performance is tonight at the Cogs Arts Space near Islington. More info on their website.
5. Sitting down to organise my brand-spanking-new Busy B diary for 2015. It’s got two columns for each week, so I can carefully coordinate life and my blogging schedule together!
6. Blowdrying my hair properly for the first time in months. I can never be bothered to do it at 6 in the morning for work, but I did it last night and couldn’t stop swishing it around all evening. I’d forgotten my hair could look anything other than frizzy and scraggly!
7. Re-reading the His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman. I always forget how brilliant these books are. The story is fantastic and the writing is absolutely gorgeous.
8. Christmas dinner with Gary’s housemates on Friday. We had three types of roast meat, roast potatoes, mustardy mashed potatoes, cauliflower cheese, sprouts with bacon and chestnuts, red cabbage, parsnips, broccoli, Yorkshire puddings and THE BEST GRAVY EVER. Ever.
9. The French bulldog sat in the doorway of one of the designer boutiques in town this morning. He was wearing a Santa hat and literally looked like he owned the place. I fell a bit in love.
10. Sitting down to dinner yesterday with my Mum, Dad, Brother and Sister. Nowadays, Christmas is the only time of year we manage to get all five of us under the same roof and I love the first night when we all catch up on our news and everyone’s a bit giddy and hyper and happy ♥
We’re nearly there folks!
Just a quick note for y’all: I’ve got one more post lined up for you tomorrow and then I’m going off-schedule until after Christmas.
I might post the odd photo-diary, but (obviously) I’m mainly gonna be hanging out with my family and friends.
Normal Monday-Friday posting will resume once I get back to London (on the 27th, not the 28th!)
