Happy Monday!
It’s been 2 weeks since my last Good Things post. How times flies eh?
Last week was the first Happy Monday I’ve missed since I first started doing them nearly 6 months ago.
Even when I went to Spain last month, I was able to borrow my Mum’s laptop and post my Monday update. But this time, I had no laptop, no internet and, strangely, it felt kind of freeing.
There’s a whole load of changes happening in my life at the moment, and I’m still trying to figure out where Little Miss Katy fits into that.
I’ve got so much out of my blog in just a year, but it’s changed and evolved into something more than just me being bored at work writing about what I bought in Boots. In all honesty, it’s started to feel a bit like a chore, and obviously that’s not what I want!
I still love my blog. I still love writing, I ADORE photography and I’m still a social media junkie. But spending 4 days completely cut off from the net has made me realise that, even though I still love what I do, I think I need to find a new way of framing it.
So I guess what I’m trying to say is: please bear with me. I know things have been a bit meh around here lately, but I’m working on it :) and if you’ve got any suggestions, comments, ideas or requests, I’d love to hear them!
For now, here are 10 things that have made me happier than happy in the past 14 days…
1. Eggs Royale. Vix and I went for brunch at Wild Caper in Brixton last week. I had poached eggs and smoked salmon on sourdough toast, with the dreamiest, creamiest home-made Hollandaise sauce. All the belly happiness.
2. Paddling dogs. All I can say is that uou have not seen true happiness until you’ve seen a golden retriever playing in the sea and then rolling around on the beach.
3. New cushion cover. LOOK YOU GUYS. IT’S LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR ME. Bright colours, and my favourite quote. It’s gonna look perfect in my new room!
4. Chilled out Saturday mornings. Long lie-ins, errands finished, perfect coffee and reading my Kindle while it rains outside. Bliss.
5. New hair, don’t care. It’s been well over a year since I last had my hair cut, so I figured it was about time for a chop… I had about 3 inches cut off, and shaped it into a long bob. I LOVE it. My too-short fringe is still doing my head in, but all my scraggly ends are now gone, and the blunt cut makes me look all swishy and thick-haired.
6. Mojoos. I went to an event last week and received a free pair of their DIVINE hand-made, silk-embroidered flats. I’ve broken the leather in and now they’re officially one of my comfiest pairs of shoes ever. AND they’re orange.
7. Rocking out to Christina Aguilera at Bob Sync Battle. Remember last month when I introduced you guys to Thinking Bob? Well I liked it so much, that I signed up properly, and on Friday I went to my second event with them. It was a home-made version of Jimmy Fallon’s Lip Sync Battle and Holy Cheesus I had actual stomach cramps from the giggles. I didn’t get through the first round (“Fighter” by Christina Aguilera, in case you were wondering), but highlights included a dude in full Beyonce costume doing the ENTIRE choreography to “Single Ladies”, the lovely Laura doing a rendition of Britney’s “Pieces” and Beth’s prize-winning version of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Honestly. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much.
8. Epic beer pong with Money Supermarket. Beer pong, jerk chicken, ice-cream cones and silly photobooths. The perfect recipe for a hilarious blogger event. I even won a bottle of prosecco due to my epic selfie skillz!
9. Black footed pork. Go to Portugal, order fried black-footed pork, eat the pork, send me a postcard telling me how much you love me. Honestly guys, it’s SUBLIME. Black-footed pork has fat marbled through the meat, so it’s super tender and flavourful. I had it about 3 times over our 4 day trip, it’s that good!
10. Poolside naps. I don’t really DO naps in general. I’m just not very good at them. However, in Portugal, I had a nap every single afternoon. Turns out all I need to nap is a comfy sunlounger, warm tropical-scented air and no social media to distract me. Who knew?
