SUCH HEAT. SUCH WARMTH.
August is back. Not just back. But back with a BANG. I’m currently typing this from the floor of my living room, cos the sofa was far too hot and sweaty. I have iced lemon squash and a hand-fan and I’m still sweating like a beast. … Sorry for that image.
And sorry to be such a moaning minnie but EURGH. Is it September yet? I’m so, so, SO ready for cool Autumn breezes.
ANYWAY.
My question at the moment is: what do you WEAR on days like today? The answer is simple: dresses.
Short, sleeveless dresses to be precise. Ones that are light and breezy and comfy enough to withstand the hottest of all weathers…
Ones just like this sweet little number from Apricot*!
Short at the front but dipped at the back, it’s perfect for keeping me cool whilst covering my big bum and stopping me from flashing my pants to the world.
It comes with a white strappy bodycon slip-dress to wear underneath, which keeps everything modest for everyday life, which is handy. I think I’d like to get my hands on a couple of the slip dresses in other colours. Don’t you think it would look fab with pops of bright colour peeking through the lace sections? Exactly. I need to try this.
And I also reckon it would be awesome to wear on a beach holiday, as a swimsuit cover-up or something!
I kept the rest of my outfit super simple, as I wanted to make the dress the star of the show. (Also cos, when it’s as hot as it is today, ain’t nobody got the energy to come up with complicated outfit combinations!)
So I went for my favourite New Look ankle strap leather sandals. They’re so simple but comfy and I wear them ALL the time! I threw my hair up in a bun and topped it off with my limited edition Rayban Wayfarer’s.
I also added my trusty black chain bag and my new favourite watch, both from New Look. (I can’t find the watch online but I bought it a couple of weeks ago and it only cost me £9.99 and it’s a brilliant alternative to the Daniel Wellington one I’ve got my eye on…)
Slap on a bit of tinted moisturiser and a dash of bright coral lippie, and I was all set to go!
What I really love about this outfit is how it can work for both night and day. I wore it out shopping a couple of weeks ago, and I wore it again last night for drinks in a garden pub.
It’s simple and classic, but still got a little bit of an edge to it cos of those fab, fab lace panels. They give the dress a bit of interest and texture, but it’s still subtle and so pretty. A perfect addition to my limited Summer wardrobe!
