I love our new flat. It has huge windows and white walls and the squishiest sofa you ever did see.
But it’s also… kinda boring. And I don’t do boring.
So, obviously, I’m putting together plans for a bit of a makeover!
I loved my bedroom makeover last year. The bright colours and graphic patterns matched my blog, matched my life and made me very happy.
But it’s time for a change. My tastes have shifted, and I want to try something new in our living room. Gary moved into my place last year, so that room had my stamp all over it, and none of his. So I really want this room to reflect both of us, and be a proper sharing space.
We’re keeping the bright and colorful theme in the bedroom (mostly because I refuse to get rid of any of the cushions and the blanket my mumma made me!) – but our living room is going to be a liiiiittle bit different.
● We can’t paint, put nails in or replace the furniture, so any changes we make are restricted to decorative items only.
● We have three HUGE windows in the living room that face North. This means that, though we get a lot of nice light, the room can seem a bit cold, especially with the white walls.
● We have the teeniest-tiniest budget.
Now, keeping in mind those points, I’ve picked out a color scheme, and a bunch of things I think would be perfect for our living room.
(And just so y’know, my birthday is in two weeks.)
(Just thought I’d throw that out there…)
So as you can see: a lot of copper.
(Which is entirely Charlie’s fault because she introduced me to Maison du Monde and now I’m basically going to be spending all my money on cheap copper-ware from now until eternity…)
Basically: my plan is to warm up the space with touches of copper and brown, then add in lots of greenery in the form of plants and these stunning knitted cushions from H&M.
Gary’s a country boy at heart, so I really want to make it feel natural and cosy, with lots of personal touches.
Some of my favourite pieces in the list above are the prints. I’m a massive Harry Potter geek, so the illustrations of Hogwarts and the character wands nod to that, whilst Gary loves Jurassic Park, so I’ve found him some awesome posters including a map of Nublar Island.
The other items at the top of my wishlist are the hammered fruit bowl (which I fully intend on filling with pine cones and LED lights) and the copper globe – which is completely useless, but utterly beautiful.
Add in some big leafy plants and a set of fairy lights, and we’re sorted!
